Nizamabad braces for local polls

After reorganisation of wards, officials will declare reservations.

NIZAMABAD: In the backdrop of the fast approaching municipal elections in Nizamabad, political leaders have begun their election campaign in municipal towns. TRS, Congress, BJP, MIM and other leaders are planning to contest either in their own residential areas or elsewhere, if reservation is not suitable for them.

Three new municipalities — Banswada, Yellareddy and Bheemgal — were set up in the composite district. In addition, the number of municipal divisions and wards will be increased in the Nizamabad municipal corporation, Bodhan, Armoor and Kamareddy municipalities.

After reorganisation of wards, officials will declare reservations. Based on the reservations, leaders may contest from the places of their choice. Non-local candidates may be fielded, especially in SC and ST municipal wards or divisions because of the dearth of reserved category leaders.
