NEW DELHI: The Congress government in Madhya Pradesh has phased out three-term BJP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s pet grievance redressal scheme –– Samadhaan Online.

The new Kamal Nath government will replace the popular scheme with ‘Jan Adhikar’ programme, where grievances would be heard through video-conferencing every second Tuesday of the month. According to highlyplaced sources, the scheme will be rolled out next Tuesday (July 9). The move is being seen as Nath government’s attempt to reach out to people following the bitter defeat in the Lok Sabha elections where the Congress could win in only Nath’s home turf of Chhindwara.

The scheme would be the chief minister’s direct line with the people as he would address the grievances on the-spot in the presence of officials through video-conferencing.

The chief minister’s office and chief minister’s helpline would receive complaints by post or online. Out of these complaints, the longest pending complaints and grievances of the poorest of the poor would be given priority. These would be sifted and put before the chief minister. The general administration department has circulated a letter directing all district officials and department heads to ensure their availability every Tuesday evening for an on the-spot redressal. The name of the scheme has been carefully chosen following Congress’ mantra of rights-based approach. The government has indicated that grievance redressal is everyone’s right.
