School authorities allegedly took the class IV student to a ‘tantric’ for treatment
JHANSI: A 10-year-old student of class IV at a government school in Jhansi died after he was stung by a scorpion on the campus. The incident took place on Wednesday morning when the boy was allegedly asked to sweep the floor by the headmaster along with other students.
Allegations are that the school authorities initially took the child to a ‘tantric’ (sorcerer) and it was only after his condition began to deteriorate, that he was rushed to the government hospital where he died on Thursday.

Taking serious note of the allegations that the victim was made to sweep the floor by the headmaster when the incident took place and that the minor was initially taken to a ‘tantric’ before being rushed to the hospital, the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Jhansi has suspended the headmaster and ordered an inquiry into the allegations.
The incident has been reported from government primary school situated in village Veera falling under Mauranipur tehsil of Jhansi district. Here the victim Arun Kumar had gone to the school and was attending classes when, allegations are that he was asked to sweep the floor along with some other students.
“As he removed a pile of twigs, a scorpion bit him,” said a classmate of the victim talking to the media. When Deenanath, the headmaster, came to know about the incident, he took Arun to a ‘tantric’. Allegations are that since the ‘tantric’ was not present at home, the headmaster contacted him on him cellphone and the ‘tantric’ recited the mantras on the phone itself and the headmaster placed his cellphone on Arun’s ears so that he could hear the mantras.
