Panic gripped Naya Gaon village in Begusarai district after recovery of the body of a young woman from Lalpur Bahiyar under the Nayagaon police station area on Saturday morning. The assailants inflicted deep cuts on the neck, face and limbs of the woman.
SHO of Naya Gaon police station Yashoda Nand Pandey said the assailants seem to have committed murder elsewhere and thrown the body outside the village.
The SHO said the woman was around 20 years of age. However, her identity could not be ascertained till the afternoon.
The SHO ruled out any sexual assault on the woman. “Police will proceed with investigation once the identity of the woman is ascertained,” he said.
In another incident, a middle-aged woman was beaten to death, while she was sleeping alone in her house at Rashidpur village under the Bachhwara police station area in the district on Friday night. The victim was identified as Usha Devi.
According to police sources, Usha and her husband Gopal Sahni had a property dispute with their neighbour.
On Friday night, Gopal and other members of the family had gone to attend a marriage ceremony in a neighbouring village, while Usha was alone in the house. Finding her alone, the assailants beat her severely while she was asleep.

Her family members found her in seriously injured condition after they returned and took to nearest hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The local wing of CPI (ML) and All India Progressive Women Association led by CPI (ML) district secretary Diwakar Kumar, party functionary Chandradeo Verma and AIPWA district secretary Ranju Devi took out a protest march against the deteriorating law and order condition in the district on Saturday.
Chandradeo Verma said though the protest was in response to a call given by the state unit of CPI (ML), party members highlighted the poor law and order here as over 40 cases of murder took place were reported in the last one month.
