Arms and detonators recovered from different areas of Nawada district

Police seized arms and explosives besides iron rods worth crores of rupees from different areas of the district since Sunday. Additional SP (operations) Alok Kumar Jha said a country-made rifle, dozens of gelatin sticks and detonators were recovered in an abandoned state inside the forest area near Kol Mahadev earthen dam under the Govindpur police station.

NAWADA: Police seized arms and explosives besides iron rods worth crores of rupees from different areas of the district since Sunday.
Additional SP (operations) Alok Kumar Jha said a country-made rifle, dozens of gelatin sticks and detonators were recovered in an abandoned state inside the forest area near Kol Mahadev earthen dam under the Govindpur police station. “It is suspected that the arms and explosives belonged to the extremists and had been buried there to avoid detection,” he said.

Acting on a tip-off, police also seized four 16-wheel trucks laden with iron rods from Madhopur village on NH-31, a few kilometres from Mufassil police station, Sunday night. The iron rods worth Rs3 crore were to be delivered at Patna.
Police officials said further investigation was on regarding the ownership of the trucks as the drivers and cleaners had managed to escape. The trucks have been parked near the Mufassil police station.
