LUCKNOW: Day One of Lucknow University's academic session, commencing from Tuesday, will see a new teacher.
Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma, who is also the state higher education minister, will take the first class where he will tell students - mainly freshers - about the role of the youth in national building.
The first-of-its-kind class, scheduled at the university's Malviya Hall, is being seen as a progressive step by the teaching fraternity.
"He (Sharma) will be setting an example by interacting with students on the very first day of the new academic session," said a professor at LU.
A communique from the government stated that Sharma would appeal to the youth to contribute to nation-building. The move, said department officials, is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's continuous efforts to increase participation of today's generation in nation-building.
Keeping the deputy CM's visit in mind, the university has issued a set of instructions to maintain proper academic ambience on the campus.
All students must carry their university ID. Those who are yet to get the same, must bring receipts of the first fee paid by them. Students have been asked not to loiter around the campus after class. They may either sit in the library or go home.
Students have been told to not walk in groups and ensure they do not bring any outsider along. No one is allowed to write anything on walls or stage any kind of demonstration.
