LUCKNOW: Fearing punishment from parents for skipping school, two children aged 13 and 11 cooked up a story about being kidnapped on Monday.
The panicked parents informed the police which mobilised teams to hunt the kidnappers in Saadatganj before finding that the story was false.
The 13-year-old student of a private school told his parents that he and his 11-year-old friend were going to school around 7.30am when a miscreant in a car called them towards him.

"The man pulled us inside the car which had five men who blindfolded us. Near Thakurganj, my friend broke the glass of the car with a bottle and shouted 'Bachao Bachao'. We then escaped," said the boy.
SHO Saadatganj Mahesh Pal Singh said, "After the information around 1pm, we scanned CCTV footage but neither the children nor the car were captured in any frame. There was no broken glass at the spot they claimed. When inquired, the children were unable to justify the claims. The 11-year-old then confessed that since they were late and had not completed homework, they went to a park and cooked up the story. We counselled them no not repeat such an act."
