UP: Charas worth of Rs 65 lakh seized in Varanasi

VARANASI: The Central Bureau of Narcotics, Ghazipur sleuths on Tuesday succeeded in seizing a consignment of 3.600 kg of charas by arresting one from Englishiya line area in UP's Varanasi. The cost of the recovered charas in international market is estimated at Rs 65 lakh.
According to deputy narcotics commissioner KK Singh, on getting specific inputs, the team of CBN cops including KK Srivastava and Deepak Sharma raided Englishiya line road where one person identified as Ramesh Yadav of Muzzafarpur in Bihar was arrested with a bag containing the consignment of charas.

The CBN officials said that during initial interrogation Yadav confessed to his involvement in smuggling of narcotic objects. He used to procure charas from Nepal and brought it here to sell among tourists including foreigners with the help of peddlers of his network, active at ghats along river Ganga.
