PATNA: Patna Women’s College (PWC) is set to launch a six-month German language course for its students from the new academic session. The registration process, which is underway, will continue till the end of this week.
“It is difficult to find foreign language instructors here. We are introducing the German course because we found a good instructor, who will teach our students to write and talk fluently in the language,” course coordinator Sahar Rahman told this newspaper on Tuesday.
PWC is likely to begin the German language classes in two batches of 30 students each from August.
“Those, who are interested, have to pay Rs 3,000 each for the six-month course. Classes will be held thrice a week,” Rahman said, adding Korean was also being taught in the college.
Earlier, French classes were also held in PWC, but were stopped soon due to “non-availability of a proficient language instructor”.
Besides, a crèche facility will be introduced for the teachers and non-teaching staff on the campus of PWC by the end of July. The home science department of the college is designing the crèche and will maintain it, too.
“Teachers and non-teaching staff with babies will make use of the crèche,” said home science department head Sister Maria Tanisha AC.
Incubation centre soon: An incubation centre is being developed at Patna Women’s College in order to inculcate entrepreneurship skills among students.
According to college principal Sister Maria Rashmi AC, the centre will be inaugurated in July and help build entrepreneurial skills in students.
