LUCKNOW: Four cubs whom Jessica, a lioness from Gujarat, gave birth in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah lion safari on June 26 are healthy. On Tuesday, the safari administration installed five CCTV cameras around the lions' enclosure to keep the mother and cubs under constant observation. The cubs will be monitored for at least three months.
"We even protected the enclosure with the net to keep raptors at bay," said director, Etawah lion safari, VK Singh.
Jessica was brought to the safari in December 2015. In 2016, she gave birth to two cubs who were fondly named Simba and Sultan by former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. Jessica gave birth to another cub in 2018 who was named Bahubali.
At present, only one keeper has been assigned to take care of the mother and the cubs. "We are not changing the keeper for at least three months," said the director.
