Most schools in Shivamogga will remain closed on Wednesday, following the bandh call given by Sharavathi Nadi Ulisi Horata Okkuta (Federation to save River Sharavathi).

SHIVAMOGGA: Most schools in Shivamogga will remain closed on Wednesday, following the bandh call given by Sharavathi Nadi Ulisi Horata Okkuta (Federation to save river Sharavathi). Several like-minded organisations have assured support to the bandh call, opposing the state government’s proposal to draw river Sharavathi’s waters from the Linganamakki reservoir for Bengaluru. 'Save Sharavathi' movement has intensified in the recent days.
Most taluks including Sagar, Theertahalli and Hosanagar received positive response to the bandh call since morning.
Mixed response to the bandh is seen in Shivamogga city.
BEOs of all taluks declared holiday to schools after consulting tahasildars, executive officer and DDPI office.Prominent tourist destination jog falls is likely to remain closed.
Shivamogga Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Ashwini M said three KSRP, 17 DAR and staff from respective police station have been deployed to prevent any untoward incident. The district administration has requested public to maintain peace.
