Won’t abandon Amethi, will fight for it in Delhi: Rahul Gandhi

The review meeting was held at Nirmala Devi Educational Institute in Gauriganj.

On reaching his former constituency, Rahul had tweeted, “Very happy to return to Amethi. It feels like returning home”.

“At the meeting, some of the local Congress leaders accused each other of sabatoging the party, while some even apologised for over confidence. Rahulji told them that he understands everything, but if all had worked hard and unitedly then this would not have happened,” said a Congress leader.

“Rahulji told us that victory and loss are part of life and that he understands everything. But what is important is that we make contact with the people of Amethi and stand with them in their every struggle,” the leader added.
“Rahulji told us that he would be available for us even at 4 in the morning, but we also have to go to the people. He said that the people of Amethi wanted a new MP, and they have got one. But he did not take anyone’s name,” said another Congress leader present at the meeting.
Earlier in the day, Rahul had tweeted about his Twitter handle reaching the 10 million followers’ mark, and said that he would celebrate the “milestone” with Congress workers and supporters in Amethi. “10 million twitter followers-thank you to each and everyone of you. I will celebrate the milestone in Amethi, where I will be meeting our Congress workers and supporters today,” Rahul tweeted.
The Congress leader first visited the Gauriganj house of his party’s Tiloi assembly in-charge Mata Prasad Vaish to offer condolences over the death of a relative on June 25.
