PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: The vehicular traffic on Pune-Mumbai highway would be diverted at Nashik Phata Chowk from Monday to facilitate the construction of the Bhosari Metro station.
“The diversion will start from July 15 and continue up to October 10,” said Hemant Sonavane, the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro)’s general manager, public relations.
A statement issued by MahaMetro stated that the deputy commissioner of police (traffic) had approved the temporary change in traffic flow on old Pune-Mumbai highway on July 8 for installing the pier and beams of Bhosari Metro station.
It will come up on the stretch between Nashik Phata and Kasarwadi railway station (near Indian Oil petrol pump) in Shankarwadi on the highway.
The ramp of Nashik Phata Chowk flyover for vehicles coming from Pimple Gurav for going to Pimpri would be closed until the completion of the Metro station. Heavy vehicles coming from Pimple Gurav using the Nashik Phata Chowk flyover and wanting to go to Pimpri/Mumbai would now have to go to CIRT, take a U-turn to come to Nashik Phata Chowk and then go to Pimpri/ Mumbai.
Heavy vehicles above 4.5 metres would have to go to the left side of the grade separator for 320 metres and then come on to the service road using the merge out.
The traffic on the garde separator and service road on the stretch is closed between 11pm and 5am at present for the Metro work.
