Water tank collapses in Palghar, 3 hurt
MUMBAI: An overhead tank containing around 80,000 litres water, constructed in Haranwadi in Palghar, collapsed on Tuesday night. Three men were injured.
The tank was built around six years ago to supply drinking water to approximately 26 villages. However, the tank could not hold water due to alleged poor construction.
On Tuesday, the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP), that had constructed the tank, decided to test the water storage capacity.
Officials reportedly used powerful motors to fill the overhead tank with water from an underground tank.
The tank collapsed around 10pm on Tuesday when it was almost full. Three men who were standing near it suffered minor injuries.
