AGRA: Two days after
Etah police busted a gang of five men and arrested two persons involved in back-to-back rape and robberies previous week in
UP's
Kasganj and Mainpuri districts, the
Kasganj police on Thursday arrested two more members of the gang.
According to Kasganj police, the two accused - Mukesh Yadav of Gokulpur village of Pilua police jurisdiction and Ramavatar Jaatav of Qazi Kheda of Marhara police jurisdiction of Etah district - had Rs 25,000 reward on them each.
“Two days after Etah police successfully busted the five-member gang and nabbed two men identified as Anil Kumar and Shailendra Yadav, during interrogation, the duo revealed about the other gang members' whereabouts. Following the shared input from Etah, Kasganj SWAT and surveillance teams nabbed Mukesh and Ramavatar,” said superintendent of police Sushil Ghule.
Officer Ghule said, “The men have accepted their involvement in the rape and robberies in Kasganj and Mainpuri districts.”
The fifth accused Satyendra Yadav is still absconding. He hails from Mainpuri district.
According to police, the gang was involved in scores of robberies and other criminal activities, including the one executed on July 4 and July 5 night in Kasganj and Mainpuri district, where the five men traveling in their brand new sedan abducted two women from Kasganj-Amapur bypass road and GT Road Kurwali respectively and gang-raped them before robbing their valuables.
The gang's modus operandi was to waylay couple traveling on motor-bike on district highways, spray pepper into woman’s male relatives' eye and abduct the woman. They would rape them in Gokulpur village of Etah or in car and then drop them back from where they had picked them. They would rob the couple's valuable items too.
