AGRA: Day after it was reported that a woman along with her husband has approached Etah police with a written complaint, alleging rape by two sub-inspectors posted in Awagadh police station, an FIR was lodged against the cops on Thursday.
Identified as sub-inspector Yogesh Tiwari and Prem Kumar Gautam, the two cops were booked under IPC section 376 [2 {A (1)}] (being a police officer commits rape within the limits of the police station to which such police officer is appointed), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 120B (punishment for criminal conspiracy).

According to written complaint on the basis of which FIR was lodged of the 27-year-old woman, who claims to be three months pregnant, stated, “In her husband’s absence, two sub-inspectors of Awagadh police raped her on several occasions and filmed the act. The cops threatened to kill her husband and shared the video of the sexual assault in public domain to humiliate her.”
Resident of a remote village of Awagadh police jurisdiction, the victim's further stated, "A non-bailable warrant was issued by district court of Etah against my husband in a dispute between our neighbours. In order to settle the dispute with monetary compensation, my husband left for Delhi to earn money. Taking advantage of his absence, the two cops constantly raided our homes and harassed me. They forced themselves on me and recorded the sexual assault act.”
"After my husband’s return from Delhi, I narrated the ordeal as I’m now three months pregnant due to the sexual assault. The cops continued to threaten us with dire consequences," she added in her complaint.
Speaking to TOI, Subhas Singh Katheria, station house officer of Awagadh said, "The initial investigation suggest, that the woman was in extra martial affair with sub inspector Yogesh Tiwari. An audio clip of the conversation between woman and cop suggest that they were in consentful relationship. The reason behind rape allegation against Sub inspector Prem Kumar Gautam is still being verified. The two cops lived together in a rented accommodation near police station.”

Officer Katheria said, “The claim of three month pregnancy and rape can only be ascertain after the medical examination, to which the victim is not available. The woman and her husband are hiding from police and not cooperating in the investigation.”
It’s important to note, that before meeting ASP Etah Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday, the woman had alleged, that two cops took her and the husband signature on blank Rs 50 stamp paper and threatened to bury the issue instead of complaining to senior authorities.
“After an FIR, the two cops have been attached to police line until further notice or completion of rape charges investigation,” said ASP Sanjay Kumar.
