AGRA: An FIR was lodged against two sub-inspectors of Awagadh police station on Thursday, a day after it was reported that a woman and her husband had approached Etah police with a written complaint, alleging she had been raped by the two.
The two cops, sub-inspectors Yogesh Tiwari and Prem Kumar Gautam, were booked under IPC sections 376(2)(A)(1) (police officer commits rape within limits of police station to which he is appointed), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).

According to the written complaint filed by the 27-year-old woman who claims to be three-months pregnant, “In my husband’s absence, two sub-inspectors of Awagadh police raped me on several occasions and filmed the acts. The cops threatened to kill my husband and shared the video of the sexual assault in public domain to humiliate me.”
The victim, who lives in a remote village under Awagadh police jurisdiction, further stated, “A non-bailable warrant was issued against my husband in a dispute with our neighbours by the Etah district court. To settle the dispute with monetary compensation, my husband left for Delhi to earn money. Taking advantage of his absence, the two cops constantly raided our home and harassed me, forcing themselves on me, and recording the sexual assaults.”
“After my husband returned from Delhi, I narrated the ordeal as I’m now three months pregnant from the sexual assaults. The cops continued to threaten us with dire consequences,” she wrote in her complaint.
Speaking to TOI, Awagadh SHO Subhas Singh Katheria said, “The initial investigation suggests the woman was involved in an extra-marital affair with sub-inspector Yogesh Tiwari. An audio clip of a conversation between the complainant and the cop suggests they were in a consensual relationship. The reason behind the rape allegation against sub-inspector Prem Kumar Gautam is still being verified. The two cops lived together in a rented accommodation near the police station.”
Katheria added, “The claim of three-month pregnancy and rape can only be ascertained after medical examination, for which the complainant is not available, as the couple is hiding from police and not cooperating in the probe.”
Incidentally, before filing her complaint with Etah ASP Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday, the woman had alleged that the two cops had forced the couple to sign on a blank Rs 50 stamp paper and threatened to bury the issue. “After the FIR was filed, the two cops were attached to Police Lines until further notice or completion of the probe,” said ASP Sanjay Kumar.
