ALLAHABAD: Bareilly BJP MLA Rajesh Mishra’s daughter Sakshi and her husband Ajitesh Kumar have filed a writ petition in the Allahabad high court, seeking protection to ‘live a peaceful life’ as a married couple.
Hearing the petition, Justice YK Srivastava fixed July 15 for next hearing as both the petitioners were not present in the court.
In the petition filed on July 5, the couple asked for security, contending that there was a threat to their life from the BJP MLA, who was ‘unhappy’ with their marriage as Sakshi was a Brahmin and Ajitesh a Dalit.

They requested the court to direct the authorities to take steps so that they are neither harassed by the MLA nor by the police at his instance. Furthermore, there should be no disturbance in their peaceful living as according to them, both of them are major and have entered into the matrimonial relationship on their free will.
The UP government, DM and SSP Bareilly have been made as respondents in the petition. Sakshi (23), had uploaded a video on a social media platform last week, making her marriage with Ajitesh (29) public. In another video, she alleged there was a threat to her life from her father, brother and an associate.
In a statement on Thursday, Mishra denied the allegations and said his daughter was independent to make her own decision.
