he Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) has completed the first round of provisional admission for a total of 970 MBBS and BDS seats out of the 1,164 seats allotted for it.

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) has completed the first round of provisional admission for a total of 970 MBBS and BDS seats out of the 1,164 seats allotted for it. The remaining seats will be added to the seats allotted for the second round of admission.
Of the 1,400 MBBS and BDS medical seats in seven government medical colleges and one private college, 1,219 comes under the state quota.
The remaining seats have been given to the national quota. After admission in the seats of the national quota is over, the vacant seats will be handed over to the state.
OJEE chairman S K Chand said they had completed admission in 933 MBBS seats and 37 BDS seats. "We will conduct admission in the remaining 249 seats in the second or spot admission round," he added.
Admission has been completed in 173 MBBS and 32 BDS seats in SCB Medical College, Cuttack, 198 MBBS seats in MKCG Medical College, Berhampur, 159 in VIMSAR Burla, 100 in Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College at Baripada, 99 in SLN Medical College, Koraput, 82 in FM Medical College in Balasore, 77 in Government Medical College in Balangir, 45 MBBS and five BDS seats in Hi-Tech Medical College in Bhubaneswar.
The second round of admission will start from July 27 and continue till July 30. Spot counselling and admission will be conducted between August 4 and 8. The entire admission process will be completed on August 18.
As many as 6,313 candidates had registered for medical counselling through the OJEE, but only 5,638 had paid fees to participate in the process. Of them, 3,654 candidates verified their documents to sit for the medical counselling.
The state government will monitor the process to make sure that the medical colleges don't take extra money from the students, said a senior officer of the skill development and technical education department.
