    That could be us: Anand Mahindra's 'jugaad' tweet hints at a disturbing future

    Anand Mahindra, whose Twitter timeline is an interesting array of quirky videos and posts, shared an image of a man sitting under a tap with a a plastic bottle placed beneath to support water flow.
    The term 'jugaad' has gained immense popularity in India, especially after the 2013 film 'Fukrey' featured a song about it. The word, in colloquial Hindi, definesdurable and affordable hacks for petty issues. From recycling saris to making new dresses to hanging empty beer bottles with fairy lights as a piece of decoration, 'jugaad' holds a special place in India. And for Mahindra Group chairman, Anand Mahindra, who too is bowled over by the ways people find a 'jugaad' to deal with problems.
    Mahindra, whose Twitter timeline is an interesting array of quirky videos and posts, shared an image of a man sitting under a tap with a a plastic bottle placed beneath to support water flow. This hack was designed to help him shower in the absence of resources.

    He wrote, "An image in my #whatsappwonderbox that was meant to praise Indian jugaad skills but actually sums up a crisis we face.We’re clever about how we use resources efficiently but we’re denied access to abundant supply. If we don’t wake up & act soon, this is how all of us will shower."




    The boardroom veteran's tweet, with a seemingly subtle reference to Chennai's water scarcity, shed light on what the future may behold for us.

    Earlier last month, the business tycoon had shared a still from a TikTok video featuring a plastic bottle hanging from a door. The bottle was placed to ensure that the door closes itself after someone enters or leaves the room.




    Recently, Mahindra crossed 7-million followers on Twitter.
