HYDERABAD: A day after making a surprise appearance at the
TRS parliamentary party meeting, senior leader Dharmapuri Srinivas on Thursday met
BJP president and Union home minister
Amit Shah in Delhi sparking speculation about his future political moves. In the meeting that lasted for over 30 minutes, Shah reportedly told Srinivas, a Rajya Sabha member, to support the BJP to strengthen it in
Telangana.
Srinivas, the father of Nizamabad MP D Aravind, has been staying away from the TRS activities for a long time after a case was filed against his elder son D Sanjay for allegedly harassing students of the nursing college run by him.
A BJP source said the TRS MP may not join the saffron party as he may lose RS membership on defection ground, but will work for them. “His attendance at the TRS MPs meeting may be strategic as he wants to be seen as supporting the ruling” the source added. Nizamabad MP Aravind said he was unware of any such development.
