Coyote Ugly actor Adam Garcia is heading to the UK for the launch of a new bar in Birmingham.

The Australian actor, who played Kevin O'Donnell in the 2000 movie inspired by the Western-themed bars, will be flying to the UK for the special live appearance and meet-and-greet at the new Coyote Ugly Saloon in Broad Street on Thursday, August 15.

Famous for his strip-tease in the film, Adam will more than likely end up stepping onto the bar once again, say organisers.

Adam's definitely got the Coyote moves. He's a trained dancer and singer and, among his many other notable roles on stage and screen, he appeared in the West End musical version of Saturday Night Fever in 1998-1999, starring as Tony Manero - the character portrayed by John Travolta on the big screen.

The actor also appeared at the launch of Coyote Ugly Saloon in Manchester (watch video above) .

In addition, Miss Sammy J, who recently re-released the Coyote hit single Can’t Fight the Moonlight, will also be appearing at the launch night.

Sammy is currently visiting the Coyote Ugly Saloon in Nashville, Tennessee, but has told us here at Birmingham Live that she intends to be at the launch event.

She has performed at Cardiff's Coyote Ugly Saloon (see video below)

Coyote Ugly’s UK operations director Chris Young said: "We are pleased to bring to the people of Birmingham the ultimate Coyote Ugly launch party, where you’ll also get to see not only Birmingham’s very own Coyotes, but Coyotes from across the UK and abroad.

"It really doesn’t get any better than this."

Open auditions will be taking place at the venue on Saturday, August 3, and Sunday, August 4.

Coyote Ugly founder and CEO Lilliana 'Lil' Lovell will be flying in from the USA to help with the auditioning process.

"It’s going to be a lot of fun, not like your normal sit-down, formal interview.  We want team members with personality, those that want to live life to the fullest and rock our bar!" said Lil.

You can apply online here but the company is keen to stress the venue is located in Birmingham UK, not its namesake in Alabama.

"We had over 100 applications from the US after Birmingham Live’s last article, so we’re just making sure people know it’s a little longer to travel each day if they're located in the USA," Lil joked.

Coyote Ugly Saloons have been around for 26 years since the first of the themed bars was opened in New York in 1993 by Lil.

The venues, known for Western-style barmaids dancing on the bar and a rowdy atmosphere with country and rock music, were later made famous by the 2000 film headlined by Tyra Banks and John Goodman.

The first UK branch of the famous bar opened in Cardiff in December 2016 with further venues launching in Liverpool, Manchester and Swansea.

Steve Lewis, Director of Coyote Ugly Saloon in the UK, said: "We are extremely pleased to announce our fifth UK venue. The support we have received from the public has been overwhelming.

"Birmingham is such a vibrant city, with an amazing nightlife scene, and we cannot wait to add to it."

The new Coyote Ugly Saloon is creating around 50 jobs including Coyote bartenders, bar backs, duty managers, chefs and waiting staff.

For people wishing to book a booth or tickets for the opening night, visit Coyote Ugly Saloon's UK website for further information.

The new bar has no connection with attempts in 2016 to open a Coyote Ugly themed venue in the Digbeth area of Birmingham.

Businesswoman Victoria Mancini had planned to launch her Coyote Bar in Lower Trinity Street, Digbeth, in November 2016.

But she was contacted by a US-based law firm representing Coyote Ugly Saloons.

Ms Mancini said at the time: "We were contacted from the official Coyote Ugly Saloons attorney in the US and were told that we were infringing on copyright laws."
