Pavitrotsavam begins in Tirupati

The ongoing three-day annual Jyesthabhi-shekam at Lord Govindaraja Swamy temple in Tirupati

Tirupati: The three-day annual Pavitrotsavam commenced on a grand note at the TTD's Lord Kapileswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati on Saturday.

As part of the festival, the temple priests performed 'Snapana Tirumanjanam' (celestial bath) to the processional deities of Lord Kapileswara Swamy, Kamakshi Ammavaru, Vigneswara Swamy Varu, Subramanyam Swamy Varu and Chandikesava Swamy Varu at the Kalyana Mandapam on the temple premises.

The objective behind performing 'Pavitrotsavam' every year in the temple is to seek the pardon of the deity for any act of commission and omission committed inadvertently by the priests, by the temple authorities or by the visiting pilgrims and restore the purity in its original pristine form.

Meanwhile, as part of the ongoing three-day annual Jyesthabhi-shekam at Lord Govindaraja Swamy temple in Tirupati, Kavacha Pratista was performed with fervour on Saturday.

Earlier in the morning, the deities were rendered Snapana Tirumanjanam and in the evening, the deities of Lord Govindaraja Swamy flanked by Sridevi and Bhudevi were taken on a celestial procession along the four mada streets.
