Biden, Booker, O'Rourke talk immigration policies at NH campaign stops
It was your typical summer Saturday in the first-in-the-nation primary state.
Presidential candidates could be found at an apple orchard in Londonderry, a Manchester Democrats potluck, or knocking on the doors of voters.
Three Democrats held very different events. Joe Biden spoke at Mack’s Apples, Beto O’Rourke spoke at a potluck picnic, and Cory Booker canvassed in Manchester and took the press on his RV.
All three talked about the Trump administration’s policies on immigration.
“Now what (Trump’s) doing in terms of this … just going to completely dismantle families and go after to scare the living devil out of everyone, it's just wrong. It's not who we are as a country,” Biden said.
“These are things that are not making us safe. They're not making us strong. They're hurting our economy. There's a better way to do this that can affirm all of our goals, from our security to our economic well-being to our values. That's why I have an immigration plan that does that, and why this president's plans and policies are so toxic and they are really hurting us,” Booker said.
“Be sure that we rewrite our immigration laws in our own image. Never again detain another child, never separate another family, move every mountain, bear any burden to reunite those who have been separated so far,” O’Rourke said.
Democratic candidate Seth Moulton also held events in the state on Saturday.
