BENGALURU: A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly biting and assaulting a traffic cop near Lalbagh West Gate on Friday night. He seemed to be under the influence of drugs.
The injured, Suresh, 48, is a head constable attached to Basavanagudi traffic police station. The accused, Vijay Kumar, is a resident of Banashankari.
At 9.40pm, Vijay, who was riding a two-wheeler on a one-way street, hit a vehicle and fell on to the road.
Suresh came to his rescue, but Vijay hit him with his helmet and bit him on the left hand.
Passersby helped Suresh and handed over Vijay to police. Cops said Vijay was into the business of selling second-hand cars but had been unemployed for some time. “We subjected him to medical examination as he seemed to have consumed drugs,” said police.
