PUNE: Nigdi police on Friday booked two occupants of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) for attempting to kill a 50-year-old motorcycle rider near Bhakti Shakti chowk, off Pune–Mumbai Highway at Nigdi, by beating him and also by attempting to mow him down under the SUV.
The injured man, age 50 years, a resident of Chinchwad has been hospitalized while his 47-year-old wife has lodged a complaint with the Nigdi police.
Police have launched a hunt for the two suspects.
According to the police, the incident took place on late Friday evening when the couple was heading to their daughter’s house in Nigdi to meet her. The couple was travelling on their motorcycle when all of a sudden a speeding white colour SUV overtook them and brought their motorcycle to a sudden halt.
One of the men alighted from the SUV and shouted at her husband saying that he had lodged a fake and fabricated complaint against his employer and his employer was perturbed with the complaint. Within minutes, the SUV driver also alighted from the vehicle and both the men started beating up her husband. The complainant intervened in the fight but the two men beat her up.
Her husband fell down on the road when the two suspects boarded the SUV and attempted to mow down the man. However, the crowd gathered at the spot and two fled from the scene.
