Pune police reunites elderly woman with her family

PUNE: Uttamnagar police on Friday reunited an elderly woman, who was found at Shivane on the night of July 10, with her family.
The woman, Rukhmini Krushna More (85), had lost her way and somehow had reached a spot at Shivane. The local residents spotted the woman and then took her to the police station seeking help.
The woman failed to narrate her address and names of her relatives.
However, the woman while talking to the policemen said that her family members had got her admitted in an old age home.
The woman constables and police officers of the police station then contacted different old age homes, including one located at Bhilarewadi in Katraj. However, majority of them did not answer the phone as it was late in the night.
The policemen then offered her food and gave her a room to sleep in the police station premises. Next morning the team again started contacting the different old age home and also called up the home located at Katraj.
The old age home authorities answered the phone and gave phone number of elderly woman’s distant relative. Police then contacted her relative and called him to the Warje police station as he stays in Warje.
After conducting a detailed inquiry of her relative, and then allowed him to take the elderly woman with him.
