Air Marshal HS Arora of South Western Air Command (SWAC) said effective supervision and safety orientation to reduce Human Error (HE) must be focused area for improving aerospace safety record.
Commanders from all air bases under the SWAC, aerospace safety and inspection officers of all commands of
Indian Air Force (IAF), representatives from
Indian Army, Indian Navy and
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) attended a day-long meeting.
Air Marshal Arora chaired the conference held at Air Force Station (AFS),
Lohegaon here recently.
Addressing the commanders at the meet, Arora said, “The SWAC contributes significantly to the overall flying effort of IAF. People are the core of our aviation safety programme and they must receive our highest attention. Effective supervision and safety orientation to minimize HE must be our focused area for improving our aerospace safety record”.
The meeting saw the commanders carry out an annual review of flight safety records, and analyse existing trends related to aircraft accidents and incidents in SWAC.
“The Director General (Inspection and Safety) along with his staff from Air HQ also shared their views and assessment with the audience. The meet included sharing of effective and innovative measures adopted at the bases, including environmental issues, that directly affect flight safety like bird menace and prevention of aircraft damage due to presence of foreign objects,” the IAF authorities said.
