PATNA: A 22-year-old youth committed suicide near his girlfriend’s residence by shooting himself in head inside his car in Bihar's capital on Sunday.
The incident took place at road number seven of Shri Krishna Nagar locality under Buddha Colony police station area. Police said the matter came to light after locals heard a loud bang and later spotted a youth lying in a pool of blood on driving seat of a car parked roadside.
Buddha Colony police station SHO Ravishankar Kumar said the deceased youth was identified as Rupak Kumar alias Rupak Arya who was a resident of Snehi Path at Patel Nagar under Shashtri Nagar police station area.
The SHO said Rupak was in relationship with the girl for the two years, but things had turned bitter in last ten days.
Kumar said a country-made semiautomatic pistol and Rupak’s cellphone were found lying on his lap.
“He shot himself in right temple and bullet existed from left side of his head. An empty cartridge was recovered from spot. The pistol was loaded with only one cartridge which got used. Police quizzed one of Rupak’s friends who said that he had a fight with his girlfriend around ten days back,” he said, adding police were yet to contact the girl to know further details.
The SHO said Rupak was a part-I student of BSc in a private college in state capital and used to reside with his family in a private house. He said the car in which Rupak committed suicide was registered in his name and was a second hand.

“His father Shambhu Kumar Gupta is an ex-serviceman and is working as special auxiliary police (SAP) personnel in Jharkhand police,” he said.
Kumar said it would be known only from call detail record (CRD) of deceased’s cellphone that if he had called up girl to meet or before committing suicide.
In-charge DSP (law and order) Suresh Kumar, who also visited the spot said it also surfaced that Rupak had put the contact number of the girl in block list of his cellphone. “She had later contacted a common friend urging him to request Rupak to unblock her number,” he said, adding Rupak was extremely disturbed for the last three days.
The DSP also said locals at the spot said the deceased youth regularly used to come there and roam around for several hours.
