Students who failed in their class IX and XI may not have to lose a year repeating the same class. The Executive Council (EC) of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Education (GBSHSE), has recently given its approval to allow the failed students to appear in the board exams.
However, this decision will be implemented from the academic year 2020-21.
“Even if the student has failed in more than two subjects, they will get a chance to appear for the supplementary examination after being promoted to class X and XII,” said Ramkrishna Samant, Chairman, GBSHSE. However, their board results will be kept on hold until they clear the backlog within two years. In case, they fail in the second attempt, they will have to start afresh.
