New railway line between Nanded and Bidar on cards

The Indian Railways has sanctioned a new railway line of around 155km from Nanded to Bidar. The infrastructural project will have a financial outlay of Rs5,112 crore, stated an official release by the South Central Railway (SCR).

AURANGABAD: The Indian Railways has sanctioned a new railway line of around 155km from Nanded to Bidar. The infrastructural project will have a financial outlay of Rs5,112 crore, stated an official release by the South Central Railway (SCR).
"The rail line between Nanded and Bidar is the only new line work sanctioned by the Indian Railways for SCR during the current financial year.
The multi-crore project will offer desired rail connectivity, connecting the Karnataka city of Bidar and the Maharashtra city of Nanded," said SCR authorities.
The SCR, which has jurisdiction over Nanded division, that caters to parts of Marathwada, has also received Rs34.5 crore for doubling the project on the Mudkhed - Parbhani line.
"The doubling project was sanctioned in the year 2011-12 for a distance of 81km, at a sanctioned cost of Rs391 crore. The latest fund flow will speed up the work of doubling the tracks," said SCR authorities.
The section between Parbhani - Mirkhel, for a distance of 17km, was commissioned in 2017-18 and Mudkhed - Mugat and Maltekdi-Nanded- Limbgaon for a distance of 26km was commissioned in 2018-19. The balance portion of the 39km between Mirkhel-Limbgaon and Maltekdi-Mugat is in progress.
Among the other different fund flows, the SCR has received Rs1,091 crore towards umbrella works of construction of Road Under Bridge, Rs400 crore for the construction of Road Over Bridge, Rs25 crore for Interlocking of Level Crossing gates and Rs176.17 crore towards the provision of additional Goods Loop Line and an additional platform, it was said.
Headquartered at Secunderabad, the SCR has a total of six divisions including Nanded. Considered as a primarily coaching division, the Nanded Division witnesses the running of an average of 90 mail/express and passenger trains daily. In addition to this, 20 goods trains are also being run everyday.
