Celebrate Apollo 11′s 50th anniversary with five days of “launch and landing” activities. Unless noted, all events take place at the Clark Planetarium, 110 S. 400 West, Salt Lake City. Rocket launch • Tuesday, July 16, 10 a.m., Veterans Memorial Park, 1985 W. 7800 South, West Jordan. Salt Lake County officials will launch a model of the Saturn V rocket, which was the rocket that propelled the astronauts to the moon. Public rocket launches and hands-on activities for families will follow.
NASA workshop • Wednesday and Thursday, July 17 and 18, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. NASA engineer Jessica Vos discusses survival in space and capabilities necessary for human space exploration followed by science demonstrations. Limited slots available.
“First Man” movie • Wednesday, July 17, 7:30 p.m. The Gateway Olympic Plaza, 400 W. 100 South. A screening of “First Man,” the 2018 biopic about the life of Neil Armstrong, starring actor Ryan Gosling.
Moonwalk • Thursday, July 18, 7 p.m. Hip-hop history meets space exploration at this ticketed event that includes break dance performances, beats by DJ SkratchMo and dancing on the Planetarium Gravity Floor. Followed by a hip-hop and Apollo 11 history presentation with Josh Perkins of 1520 Arts, featuring dance and scratch demos. Tickets are $25 per person and include food and one drink ticket. Cash bar available.
Gallery Stroll: Moon Art • Friday, July 19, 6-9 p.m. Moon-themed art and visualizations on a 360-degree screen, and other space- and science-themed art projects. Also on exhibit will be the winners of the KUED Kids Writers and Illustrators 2019 Contest.
Chasing the moon • Saturday, July 20, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. A celebration that includes a free screening of PBS’ “Ready Jet Go! One Small Step” in the IMAX Theatre, moon-themed arts and crafts stations, and a moon gravity virtual reality experience.
Lecture Series with NASA engineer Jessica Vos • Saturday, July 20, 7 p.m. Vos serves as a health and medical technical authority representative for the Orion spacecraft program and manages various projects that will protect/ensure crew health and performance during Orion’s missions. Free, but space is limited.

Symphony tribute • Friday, July 26, at 7:30 p.m. A Symphonic Space Celebration concert will include rare NASA footage on a big screen along with other homages to space and the universe. The concert, part of the Deer Valley Music Festival, takes place at the Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater, 2250 Deer Valley Dr., Park City.
