The author recently released her newest novel Another Perspective in April, and she hopes the book can help people reflect on their own lives and find their purpose.

“Often I’ve heard people say that they need a new perspective, a fresh perspective in order to live their best life. The way we look at things makes such a difference,” Balson said.

The book is a collection of personal experiences that take a deeper glance at the life lessons that may otherwise be overlooked.

Balson says that some of the stories in the book are about thrilling new adventures like skydiving, kayaking and ballroom dancing. She says that a lot of the stories come from everyday life experiences. Even though things from our normal day-to-day life can seem insignificant, Balson says there is a lot to be learned.

“[There are] stories of everyday life and I have grouped them into areas, like confidence, fear, negative thoughts and gratitude.”

She says that although she has learned to look at life with a positive attitude, this was not always the case.

“For many years, I went through life looking through the eyes of a pessimist. I always looked at the negative, that way I wasn’t disappointed.”

It was a desire to experience life to the fullest that led to Balson’s own change in perspective.

“A challenge to create value in all things helped me search for the positive in life, and that shift in perspective helped me to see the goodness that was there all along. It has made life more fulfilling because I look past my limited first impression.”

Once she had given herself the challenge to live more intentionally, she made daily efforts to ensure that she was meeting her goals.

“I started looking for it, I started keeping a gratitude journal and every day I wrote down things I was grateful for.”

Another Perspective is Balson’s fourth published book, and she added that her goal was to make it accessible to people. She wants readers to learn from her failures, accomplishments and adventures while being introspective.
