In Moradabad, newly weds threatened by family seek police protection
BAREILLY: After Bareilly MLA’s daughter and a couple from Amroha, another couple from Thakurdwara area of Moradabad has sought protection from the district police chief. They got married on July 8 against the wishes of the girl’s family and now have approached police for protection against them. The girl, Jubee, and her husband Evant Kumar belong to the same caste.
In a video message addressed to SSP Amit Pathak, the girl says that after she married the boy of her choice, her family members lodged an FIR against his parents on charges of abducting her.
The couple also reached the SSP office to narrate their ordeals to him.
“We have got our marriage registered in the court. We have arrived here to meet the SSP. However, we couldn’t meet him as he was not in office,” the girl said. Both of them are 21 and the girl has completed her graduation. TheSSP said, “We are investigating the matter and any FIR is yet to be lodged.”
