Hyderabad: HC directs IOs to submit status report on Nowhera

Hyderabad: Telangana HC today directed investigation officers to submit status report in seven cases filed against Heera group MD Nowhera Shaik and asked why the state police delayed taking action against her when the first FIR was registered in 2012.

The Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Shameem Akther were hearing a petition filed by the All India Heera Group Victims Association seeking directs to the CBI to conduct an inquiry into the scam of Rs 50,000 crore, TOI reports.

The bench found that the IOs have not yet submitted sufficient information on the investigation carried out so far and asked when they could complete it.

Justice Chauhan noted that inaction in the case registered in 2012 till 2018 made it appear equally into this scam with the Heera group.

The bench asked why the state police did not take her into custody in 2012 to the government counsel Sanjeev’s response that the accused is now in judicial custody.

The bench also inquired about the cases lodged against the Heera group in 2018 and 2019 and directed the police to submit the status report on the investigation within two weeks and opined that a CBI inquiry will be setup if the issue has national ramification.
