On Monday, Mumbai city recorded just 3.2 mm while suburban Mumbai got about 2.8 mm and Thane 6.4 mm. Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains are expected in these areas for this entire week. Maximum and minimum temperatures on Tuesday should be around 32 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively with high humidity (80-85%) that may make temperatures feel higher.

While the rains have eased up, the large amount of precipitation from late June to around July 10 has served to boost the city's rainfall kitty. As on Monday, the city has received 7% excess rainfall this monsoon. The suburbs have received 57% excess rainfall and Thane 40% excess rain.

With the seasonal trough of the monsoon shifting northwards, the IMD had said that above-normal rainfall is likely to be concentrated around Bihar, UP, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and northeastern states (Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura) up to July 17, while the rest of the country is likely to get normal or below-normal rainfall.

While the northern Konkan region is not likely to experience significant wet weather for the next few days, the southern Konkan region is receiving good rains, as moist winds from the Arabian Sea bring vigorous thundershowers. There may be heavy to very heavy rain in Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. Heavy rain is also expected in ghat areas of Satara and Kolhapur on Monday.
