Why did Peyton List leave Bunk’d? Disney actress has more in store!

Bunk’d continues to delight Disney Channel audiences, but Peyton List has other ideas.

Few shows set primarily outside have encouraged kids to stay indoors as much as Bunk’d.

The Disney Channel has delivered a number of celebrated children’s shows over the years; we’ve had Hannah Montana, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Good Luck Charlie and so many more.

One of the channel’s biggest success stories in the current decade has been Jessie, which began airing back in 2011. The show starred Debby Ryan, Karan Brar, Peyton List and Cameron Boyce, who tragically passed away rather recently; fans, family and friends have offered some truly touching tributes since. It continued until late 2015 but was then essentially followed up by another series instead.

Bunk’d premiered on the Disney Channel in the summer of 2015 and proved to be a Jessie spin-off, chronicling the familiar characters as they ventured out to Camp Kikiwaka. There, the main characters Emma (Peyton List), Ravi (Karan Brar) and Zuri (Skai Jackson) met new friends and experienced the highs and lows of a formative summer at camp. Jessie fans immediately took to it, and the show has since run for numerous seasons.

Peyton List appears to promote Peyton List appears to promote “Bunk’d” during the AOL BUILD Series at AOL HQ on December 6, 2016 in New York City.

Bunk’d: Season 4

Peyton List’s character – Emma Ross – was the star of the show for most. Throughout the early seasons, she was training to become a camp counsellor, eventually becoming manager of the camp in the third season, which aired in 2018.

However, across the three seasons, the character’s eye for fashion was always highlighted, eventually leading to a surprising twist in the season 3 finale; she ventures off to become a supermodel in Milan, as her mother owns a clothing line. This, in turn, put some tricky expectations in place for the fourth season.

Some were hesitant to continue watching the show without her, and when season 4 finally arrived, it was clear that audiences would simply have to adjust to Bunk’d without her.

Nevertheless, season 4 began premiering on Thursday, June 20th 2019, with episode 5 – “Hot Spring Friend Machine” – set to air on Thursday, July 18th 2019. You know what they say, the show must go on! Lots of friendly faces are back this season, but fans can’t help but miss Emma.

Why did Peyton leave Bunk’d?

Of course, it was established at the end of season 3 that the character would be leaving. Yet, when crucial characters depart from shows, it’s usually due to the actor wishing to leave, rather than the writers making the decision; especially with a show like Bunk’d.

With Peyton exiting, the show lost a star. Fortunately, an interview with the actress herself back in 2018 pretty much clarifies the reason behind the decision. As reported by Just Jared Jr., she said; “I’ve aged out of children’s shows. I love all of those people so much from the show. They are and always will be my family.”

Offering further insight; “Everyone grows up and stars new projects,” she reveals. It totally makes sense, as both the actress and her character have evolved, embracing new and exciting opportunities whilst continuing to grow. So, what’s next for Peyton List?

Peyton List: After Bunk’d

As the actress stated, new projects are indeed on the horizon.

She’ll be voicing Batgirl in the upcoming animated feature Batman: Hush, which also features Jason O’Mara as Batman and Jerry O’Connell as Superman. So, that’s something for the superhero fans to look forward to on Saturday, July 20th 2019.

Then, there’s Valley Girl, which has cast the actress in a central role. It’s billed as a romantic comedy-musical adaptation of the 1983 movie of the same name; the original starred Nicolas Cage! Rachel Lee Goldenberg’s take on the tale will settle upon two lovers from different backgrounds as they fend away family to stay together.

There are also another two projects in different stages of production right now. Firstly, there’s Paper Spiders, which is said to be a coming of age drama film which deals with mental illness, so expect something with an emotional punch when this one arrives. Then secondly, there’s the wildly different Moving Day, which is a comedy-crime movie focusing on two friends who find their roommate dead, triggering a disastrous chain of events.

As you can see, Peyton List has kept true to her word, with a wide range of intriguing projects headed our way.

In other news, more Tales of Arcadia is on the way!
