Ongole: Police on Tuesday registered a case against a medical officer working in the government hospital at Markapuram for allegedly slapping an elderly woman.
The mistake of the Girijan woman, M. Balibai, was to enter the room of the medical officer, Dr Hari without his permission.
According to sources, the doctor lost his cool at this and reportedly slapped her when she told him that she entered the room because she had an outpatient slip.
The doctor also shouted at Balibai’s granddaughter when she questioned him for manhandling the elderly woman.
Upon receiving a complaint from Balibai and her granddaughter against Dr Hari, sub-inspector G. Venkata Saidulu reached the hospital and elicited information about the incident.
The S-I also registered a complaint against the two women after Dr Hari complained that they had attempted to prevent him from discharging his duties.
