LITTLETON, N.C. — Local and federal law enforcement officers seized 80 kilograms of cocaine and about $2 million in cash early Tuesday in a raid in Halifax County, authorities said.

Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp described the case in an email as the largest drug and money seizure in the county's history. The cocaine was valued at $2.8 million, he said.

U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents, deputies from Halifax, Wake, Nash, Orange, Durham and Franklin counties and police officers from Raleigh, Apex and Garner were part of the investigation, which focused on a building in the Aurelian Springs Road area, Tripp said.

Two people were in federal custody, but Tripp didn't identify them.

No other details were available.
