Two winners in a frame: Anand Mahindra feels it would've been 'nice' if England asked NZ to pose together with WC trophy

The nail-biting cricket World Cup final, on Sunday, between England and New Zealand that ended in the Black Caps losing the trophy due to a 'boundaries' rule, still has fans and social media abuzz.

Two days after the game, Mahindra and Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra, who is known to be an active member of Twitterverse, said it would've been 'nice if the English team called on their NZ counterparts to come together for a portrait of them jointly holding the Cup'.

The industrialist tweeted that while one cannot turn back the clock and 'supersede the decision', it would've been a nice gesture to see the winning team share a moment wit the Kiwis. Mahindra was replying to a tweet that said, "If we have a poll today as to whether Kiwis should be declared joint World Cup winners, I feel an overwhelming majority, including many from England, would answer in the affirmative."


The 64-year-old business tycoon had earlier too turned to the microblogging site, making a reference to R. F. Delderfield's beloved classic 'God is an Englishman', after England's win in the final.

"And the one old book that will now be pulled off musty bookshop shelves is ‘God is an Englishman.’ Only some superpower pulled them through the last hour of that game..," Mahindra had tweeted.
