The state government on Tuesday transferred several senior IPS officers, including two joint commissioners of Kolkata Police.

KOLKATA: The state government on Tuesday transferred several senior IPS officers, including two joint commissioners of Kolkata Police.
Nabanna officials described the transfers as “routine” and refused to link it with any trouble in the city.
Mitesh Jain, who was the joint commissioner of armed police, has been posted as DIG, CID (special). Akhilesh Kumar Chaturvedi, who was earlier a joint CP (administration) in Kolkata Police, has been brought in Jain’s post.
Sheesh Ram Jhajaria has been made a joint CP (administration).
Biswajit Ghosh, who was DC (east division) has been made the DC, Kolkata Armed Police (Fourth Battalion), while Gaurav Lal has been posted as DC, KAP (Second Battalion) and Pushpa DC, KAP (Fifth Battalion). Rupesh Kumar is the new the DC (east division) and Bhavna Gupta an additional DC of Kolkata Police.
Natarajan Ramesh Babu, who was appointed as the police commissioner of Bidhannagar by the election commission during the polls and was then, put on compulsory waiting after the results were declared in May, has been posted as the ADG (Traffic-II). Kollol Ganai has been made the IG (orgnaisation -II), while Debabrata Das will continue as the DIG, Armed Police, Barrackpore.
Avvaru Ravindranath has been made the new AIG (security) in directorate of security, while Subrata Gangopadhyay will be the new DC (headquarters) in Chandernagore police commissionerate. J Mercy has been posted as the DC (airport) in Bidhannagar police commissionerate.
