It was found that the youth already had 32 black points awarded against him before the current violations. Therefore, the total number of black points reached 67, which forced the police to cancel his licence permanently.
Major bin Hindi said the teenager's car will remain confiscated for four-and-a-half months and he will not be issued any driving licence now as he has gone beyond 32 black points in one year.
He said the Ajman Police have taken stringent measure against reckless driving, which increases during summer vacations. Most of the violators are teenagers. Such driving behaviour has increased mostly due to social media, and threatens the safety of all road-users.
Even though there has been a 40 per cent decline in the number of accidents in the last six months, the police have launched intensified campaign to crack down on reckless drivers, he pointed out.
The police have also rolled out awareness drives targeting teenagers to sensitise them with dangers of driving recklessly and racing on public roads. They have distributed publications to advise young motorists to refrain from performing dangerous stunts which endangers their lives as well as that of others.
Major bin Hindi urged parents to monitor their children and not to allow them drive cars without a licence. He also advised them to follow traffic laws and abide by speed limits on highways.
