Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for the brutal beating of an elderly man in Hollywood earlier this year.

Officers arrested 21-year-old Deandre Hampton after he turned himself in to police Tuesday evening, Hollywood Police said.

Hampton is charged with aggravated battery on a person over 65.

The attack happened May 25 in the area of 1711 S. Surf Road, after Hampton had allegedly been asked not to park his vehicle in a reserved parking spot, Hollywood Police said in a release last week.

The video showed Hampton approach the elderly man and punch him, causing the man to fall to the ground, police said. The suspect then continued to punch the man until a woman came and stopped him, and Hampton fled the scene, police said.

The 69-year-old victim, who didn't want to be identified, said he got sucker-punched.

"At my age, that's all I could do was protect myself, he hit me here so hard he almost knocked me out," the man said to NBC 6 last week. "I have double vision right now because of it, I have a mild concussion."

Hampton was being held on $30,000 bond Wednesday, jail records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
