Chatham-Kent’s power supply is well within normal operating levels, even with the area being hit by prolonged heat waves over the last couple weeks.
Entegrus provides Chatham-Kent’s electricity and services 58,000 customers in Southwestern Ontario. The company said the energy use in Chatham-Kent peaked at around 144 megawatts during the recent heat waves, up 13 per cent from the same time last year.
However, Entegrus said that usage wasn’t consistent, just a peak. Their systems were still running at comfortable levels during the hot conditions and won’t be short of power during this weekend’s expected scorcher, set to hit temperatures in the mid 40s with the humidex.
Entegrus said the cost for consumers will depend on their individual usage.
