Goals from Elias Kachunga, Jonathan Hogg and new signing Josh Koroma helped Huddersfield Town claim what ended up being a comprehensive victory over League One side Rochdale in their fourth pre-season friendly of the summer.

Jan Siewert's side overcame the handicap of falling behind early in a match overshadowed by Town's apparent involvement in a publicity stunt on the part of new kit sponsors Paddy Power, whose name was emblazoned in huge diagonal letters across Town's newly-unveiled shirts.

Ian Henderson gave Rochdale the lead within nine minutes, with the veteran striker finding himself space in the box to nod home Rhys Norrington-Davies' cross from the left.

Town looked threatening from a couple of Alex Pritchard-delivered corners midway through the half, but neither Christopher Schindler nor Terence Kongolo were able to meet the respective deliveries that came their way.

Rochdale went close to doubling the lead twice in as many minutes, with Stephen Dooley and Aaron Morley each putting and effort narrowly wide of Ryan Schofield's post from a near-identical position on the edge of the Town box - with new Liverpool loanee Kamil Grabara not quite ready for match time.

But having survived both those scares, Town pulled a goal back just before the break, with Elias Kachunga nodding home Pritchard's open-play cross from the left.

With only five substitutes named on the bench and all of them coming direct from the academy, it was clear from the off that there would be none of the sweeping mid-match changes to the side that Siewert had made in all three of the club's friendlies in Austria last week.

Nor was there any change to Town's kit at the break as the embarrassment of those ridiculous sashes continued - marketing stunt or not.

But there was a change in Town's intensity, with the Terriers exploiting their tiring opposition by winning the ball with more regularity high up the field.

Having gone close to finding the bottom corner on a rare foray forward moments earlier, Jonathan Hogg put Town ahead on 60 minutes, winning the ball around 30 yards from goal and strolling through for a one-on-one with the keeper that he put away with a low finish.

The unlikeyl goalscorer then added an assist to his tally for the evening, receiving the ball short from Kachunga after the forward again forced Rochdale out of possession in their own third and sliding in Josh Koroma to convert another good low drive to the far bottom corner.

Having put in the hard yards to put themselves ahead, Town were left with the relatively simple task of seeing out the game to take their pre-season record - for what it's worth - to three wins, one draw, no losses - and one really, really abominably terrible football kit.
