Bishkek, July 17, 2019. /Kabar/. A 14-hour complex liver surgery was performed in Bishkek for the first time.

Deputy Chief Doctor of the Clinical Hospital of the Department of the Presidential and Government Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Aleksandra Oleksyuk told the Kabar News Agency that the operation to a 38-year-old patient, diagnosed with Alveolar hydatid disease was performed in two stages.

She noted, the surgeons decided to do an autotransplantation, that is to remove the vessels, affected by the tumor and insert instead the prostheses of the vessels.

“The surgery lasted 14 hours. It was performed by an entire team of doctors. The doctors took out the liver, cleaned it, inserted prostheses of the vessels and brought it back. The liver was on the operating table for 3 hours. Postoperative rehabilitation of the patient passed well and the tests were clean. He was discharged from the hospital yesterday, July 16,” the doctor said.

She said that such an operation in Kyrgyzstan had been performed for the first time. “Doctors from China were scheduled to arrive for the operation, but unfortunately, they were unable to arrive. The doctors were preparing for the operation for three months and decided to conduct the operation on their own,” Oleksyuk added.
