Fiji shooter Glen Kable has won gold for Fiji in the single barrel discipline. Kable battled out the gold medal with Samoa’s favorite and teenager Franco Caffarelli who won gold in the double barrel discipline.

“ I’m confident of this single barrel event after winning bronze in the double barrel event.” Kable said

Missing a one shot cost Fiji Shooting Association founder and shooter Glen Kable the opportunity to defend his gold medal in the double barrel discipline at Tafaigata shooting range in Apia, Samoa yesterday.

Kable took out the bronze medal behind Franco Caffarelli of Samoa who won gold while Tuanua Degage of Tahiti scooped the silver medal.

Following the qualifying rounds Kable, Tahiti’s Moeava Bambridge and Pascal Brettes of Samoa were tied at 99 points and competed in the shootout for the bronze medal. Kable was on target.

Caffarelli and Degage who both had a 100 percent target in the qualifying round battled out for gold medal.

Kable said he had no excuse.

“It was a tough day, a lot of humidity, difficult conditions for target but no excuse for me,” he said.

“I had no idea what I did wrong there, I think I was a little bit tight. I shot three perfect rounds today which is all for the first barrel and one round.”

The 56-year-old is confident of making a comeback today when he participates in the single barrel competition.

“Now we will have to regroup and move on. I’m still confident of the other two events,” he added.
