New scenes, trailer and more for It: Chapter Two at ScareDiego (SDCC)

New trailer above!

The biggest horror movie of all time is unleashing its sequel (or part two, if you prefer) this fall with IT: CHAPTER TWO, the second half of Stephen King's epic tale of an ancient evil in the form of a killer clown named Pennywise and the terror he brings to a group of kids in the small town of Derry. Given the runaway success of the first film, it's no surprise that we'd get a follow up and this time we've got director Andy Muschietti back at the helm with some flashback scenes with the young cast and a "modern" setting with an adult cast, consisting of James McAvoy (Bill Denbrough), Jessica Chastain (Beverly Marsh), Bill Hader (Richie Tozier), Jay Ryan (Ben Hanscomb), James Ransone (Eddie Kaspbrak), Isaiah Mustafa (Mike Hanlon) and Andy Bean (Stanley Uris). Of course, nothing would be complete with Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise and he's back in full force for this installment.

As part of Warner Bros. ScareDiego presentation, host Conan O'Brien took the stage to introduce the new trailer (which you'll all be able to see for yourselves tomorrow (Thursday) and had this to say after we watched it…

And he ain't lyin'. While the first trailer served as a delicious tease, this new one is a great, quick-cut smorgasbord of horror that will leave you hyped as hell for the End of IT. Afterwards, Conan brought out director Andy Muschietti and the cast, including McAvoy, Chastain, Hader, Ransone, Mustafa, Ryan and Bean.

We saw three scenes from the film as well, which I won't spoil completely here, but share my initial thoughts (via Twitter). It's all great stuff ripped from the books and some new stuff we've never seen before. The same spirit and mix of horror, humor and thrills are all evident here and Muschietti definitely seems to know what he's doing. The suspense, the teases, the reveals, the pacing; it feels like he hasn't missed a beat.

There were lots of stories and tales from the set, as well as some questions from the audience. Below is a highlight of some of the more memorable stories and responses, including Muschietti expressing that he'd love to remake THE HOWLING.

Another interesting bit (which I need to elaborate on) was the fact that each of the young castmembers wrote a handwritten letter to their adult counterparts, which was basically a letter to their grown-up characters…

All in all, a good start to Comic Con and a nice tease for one of the most-anticipated movies of the year. I'm seriously stoked to see this flick as I loved the first one and this looks like it hasn't missed a beat in telling the full story. There's a lot of great (and not great) Stephen King adaptations out there, but this is by far the most refined of the bunch thus far, so here's to hoping they knock it out of the park yet again.

IT: CHAPTER TWO floats into theaters on September 6th, 2019.

New trailer tomorrow, but here's the first one to get you warmed up!
