Rise in Russia's banking sector profit


(MENAFN) The Russian central bank said Wednesday that, the net profit of Russia's banking sector rose by about 60 percent from January to June in comparison the same period previous year.


The bank was quoted by TASS news agency as saying in a report that, net profit of the banking sector for the first half of 2019 totaled USD15.96 billion next to USD10.07 billion in January-June 2018.


According to the report, throughout the same period, the profitability of assets in the banking sector rose from 1.5 percent to 1.9 percent on an annual basis.


It also said that, as of July 1, the assets of the banking sector totaled USD1.47 trillion retaining an upward trend in June with a 0.2-percent rise.

According to the central bank, the June expansion was lower than the May figures because of a decline in foreign currency assets.
