5 Bengalureans killed as speeding car rams truck in Chitradurga

Five people from Bengaluru, including four women, were killed after their speeding multi-purpose vehicle hit a truck on National Highway 4 at Kunchiganalu village on the outskirts of Chitradurga on Wednesday. Three others, including two children, were injured in the accident caused by bursting of the car’s tyre.

CHITRADURGA: Five people from Bengaluru, including four women, were killed after their speeding multi-purpose vehicle hit a truck on National Highway 4 at Kunchiganalu village on the outskirts of Chitradurga on Wednesday. Three others, including two children, were injured in the accident caused by bursting of the car’s tyre.
The tragedy struck when the residents of Rajarajeshwari Nagar were on their way to a temple in Badami.

Car driver Ashok, 35, Shyamala, 64, Shobha, 45, and Sukanya, 67, died on the spot. Manjula, 45, succumbed to injuries at the government hospital in Chitradurga. The injured Pavitra, 30, Shreshtha, 7, and Arthat, 2, are undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
Prima facie, the car driver’s negligence caused the accident, said police.
